The Minimum Inclusion Income (VMI) is the social benefit for persons and families with low incomes, regulated by Romanian Law no. 196/2016, in force as of 1 January 2024.
VMI replaced the social benefit granted under Romanian Law no. 416/2001 (repealed) and the family support allowance (where applicable).
- Who can benefit
- Single persons or families with monthly net income per family member below the annually set threshold · must have domicile/residence within the commune · able-bodied citizens are required to perform community-interest activities.
- Required documents
- Application and sworn declaration · identity documents of all family members · birth certificates · marriage certificate/divorce judgment (if applicable) · income attestations for all members · tax certificate for property held · as applicable: medical disability certificate, school enrolment attestation.
- How to apply
- In person, at the Social Assistance Department of the Town Hall of the place of domicile/residence · after submission, a social inquiry is conducted at the home.
- VMI components
- Social inclusion component (replaces the social benefit) · family with children component (replaces the family support allowance) · the two may be combined or granted separately.
- Processing deadline
- Maximum 30 working days from the date of the social inquiry · payment is made monthly by AJPIS Caraș-Severin to the account indicated by the beneficiary.
