Marriage publications are the mandatory displays provided for by art. 283 of the Civil Code. They make known the intention of marriage of the two future spouses and are publicly exposed for 10 days, under the conditions provided by Romanian Law no. 119/1996 on civil-status documents.
Any person may oppose the marriage during the display period if they have knowledge of a legal cause that prevents the marriage. The opposition is made in writing and is submitted to the civil-status officer.
