Seasonal guide
At over 900 m altitude, the seasons feel different. Summer is cooler than on the plain, autumn arrives earlier, and winter can linger on the ridges until April. The Trei Ape lake, the Semenic forests and the mountain meadows change their appearance with every season.
Explore the seasonsFour seasons
Every season brings other colours, other temperatures and other rhythms. From the spring meadows to the silence of the snow, the mountain tells, year after year, another version of the same place.
Spring
March – MayThe forests slowly come back to life. In March there may still be patches of snow on the Semenic ridges, while the meadows around the villages begin to turn green. April and May bring pleasant temperatures for walks and the season’s first long trails.
- green meadows
- freshly leafed forests
- high stream flow
- low tourist traffic
Summer
June – AugustThe commune’s most active season. Temperatures are milder than in the lowland towns, and the evenings stay cool thanks to the altitude. The Trei Ape lake becomes one of the main attractions, and the mountain trails are fully accessible.
- festivals and events
- open mountain trails
- long days
- activities around the lake
Autumn
September – NovemberMany locals consider this the most beautiful time of year. The beech and fir forests change colour, fog often appears in the morning, and the light grows softer. This is the season of photographers and quiet walks.
- spectacular colours
- fog in the hollows
- less crowded trails
- first frosts
Winter
December – FebruaryThe commune shifts into a different rhythm. Snow can stay for long stretches, and on the Semenic ridges the cold season often lasts until March or April. In good years, the snow cover turns the whole area into an authentic mountain landscape.
- snow-covered landscapes
- complete silence
- conditions for winter activities
- frozen forests

Different every time
The water level is fed by melting snow. The first birds return, and the meadows around the village begin to turn green.
