From Brebu Nou and Gărâna run numerous forest roads that reach deep into the forests of Semenic. Some climb towards the ridges and alpine meadows, others follow shaded valleys and mountain streams. Together they form a discreet network that connects the village with the nature around it.
Many of these roads were opened generations ago for logging and for the traditional activities of the mountain. Today they offer access to some of the quietest and least known places of the commune.
As you go on, the landscape changes constantly. The beech forests give way to spruce, the light filters through the canopy, and the sounds of the village are left behind. In some areas, the only sounds are the wind and the birds hidden among the trees.
Each season transforms the road. Spring brings the first flowers and the fresh green of the forest. Summer brings coolness and shade. Autumn covers the trails with copper leaves, and winter turns the routes into white corridors that vanish among the firs.
Forest roads also offer one of the best chances to watch nature unhurried. Animal tracks, mushrooms, birds and hidden clearings often appear where you least expect them.
