Set at almost a thousand metres of altitude, Brebu Nou and Gărâna live under a sky in constant change. Light, clouds and fog shape the landscape from one hour to the next, turning the same view into a different experience every day.

Mornings often begin in a white silence. The mist settles over the meadows and among the forests, blurring the outlines of the village and the mountain. As the sun climbs, the fog lifts slowly, and the ridges of Semenic reappear one by one out of the light.

Summer brings deep skies and long evenings, when the sunset colours the forests in shades of gold and copper. On clear nights, far from the lights of the big cities, the sky becomes one of the most spectacular landscapes of the mountain.

Autumn is the season of contrasts. Mornings are often wrapped in fog, while the afternoons offer some of the clearest views over the surrounding hills and forests. In winter, the clouds come down almost to the ground, and the snowfall erases for a while the boundary between sky and mountain.

For photographers, artists and nature lovers, this changing light is part of the charm of the place. The same road, the same clearing and the same forest edge never look the same.

Fog calls for patience and care on the roads and trails, but in return it offers some of the most memorable images of the mountain. Sometimes the most beautiful views appear at the very moment the mist begins to break apart.
